Adding Security and Communication to an Elementary School

THE SCENARIO:
Administrators of a busy elementary school received a state‑level grant and used the funds to replace their existing access control system with enhanced technology that would provide modern features to keep their school more secure.

The school’s administrators wanted an access control system that was easy to update without extra costs involved. Since substitute teachers were common, they wanted the same system to have a way for non-personnel to be able to access the school without disrupting reception or having to reprogram credentials.

They also wanted the new access control system to have intercom integration so visitors could request access to the main entrance, which was always locked, and then screened by staff prior to being let inside the school.

THE SOLUTION:
To ensure compatibility between multiple product lines, school administrators selected a premium access control system and IP video intercom from the same manufacturer.

By integrating access control with an IP video intercom, the school was outfitted with the most in demand security features in one system, like being able to identify visitors before unlocking the main entrance.
