The company was founded in 1978 by Robert W. Kunz. When he passed away two years later, his wife and children continued running the business. They developed it into the electronics industry’s leading manufacturer’s representative throughout Kansas, Missouri, Southern Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. 

Sales associate Lucas Barry has worked at R.W. Kunz for nearly 30 years. Throughout this time, Aiphone video and audio intercoms have been among the most popular products he has sold – and continues to sell. Barry estimated 75% of the projects he works on include at least one system from the extensive Aiphone product line. 

“For each application and opportunity, there may be three to five Aiphone systems that would satisfy the design,” he said. “I like going over the features with the customer until we narrow it down to the one that will work best.” 

Barry said technical support is another important part of the overall sales process. When his integrator customers call for help to install an Aiphone intercom, they’re in touch with Aiphone’s award-winning support team. They can also  access the QuikSpec online design tool for a 24/7 response. The free QuikSpec tool generates a complete equipment list based on the answers to a few questions. 

Product dependability is yet another reason Barry said he prefers selling Aiphone intercoms.  

“I have dealers that call me with 15-year-old systems that the end-user wants to upgrade,” he said.  “Virtually every time the older system still works but the owners want to refresh the look to attract new commercial clients.”
